This Japanese-style residence inhabited by Dr. Maruta and his family is a representation of the prosperity of Suzaka at that time.
It has now been designated as a national tangible cultural property.
As you look out over the garden, the only sound that can be heard at night are the echoes of the stone wash basin in this special place that will make you feel as if you have slipped back in time to the Showa or Meiji eras.
Enjoy the features of the Japanese residence
There is one king-sized bed in the Shoin-zukuri architectural style bedroom. Two single beds can also be set up in this room if you prefer. There is a room that looks over the garden with a sofa for you to sit and relax on, and a dining room where you can enjoy your meals. You are also free to use the kitchen equipped with cooking utensils where you can prepare simple meals. In the bathroom you will find sake lees from Suzaka's sake brewery, Endo Shuzo, which you can use to enjoy a sake lees bath.
